The Staff Accountant is responsible for timely and accurate preparation of monthly and quarterly financials.  The Staff Accountant will report to the Assistant Controller and partner with other members of the team on various projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform daily and month-end entries for Revenue, Payables, Leases, Prepaids, Intercompany, Fixed Assets.
  • Prepare journal entries, maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Maintain cash flow forecasts
  • Prepare account reconciliations, and actual vs. plan budget analysis
  • Approve orders for scheduling and facilitate payment of invoices with customers
  • Generate financial reports and analyze various financial expenses on a monthly basis
  • Produce management reports on capital expenditures and forecasts by project
  • Supervise Accounts Payable processing of corporate invoices, check requests, and expense reports
  • Manage vendor statement review and resolution of vendor discrepancies
  • Code invoices as necessary; allocate charges appropriately to departments and cost centers
  • Reconcile all related balance sheet accounts each period; resolve and clear reconciling items
  • Perform cash management functions including, but not limited to, monitoring and recording cash transactions and investment of excess cash balances and reconciling bank accounts
  • Manage Accounts Receivable process including, but not limited to: Accounts Receivable analysis and collection, Accounts Receivable aging review, and preparation of monthly Accounts Receivable reports
  • Prepare financial statement variance reports as requested
  • Review internal controls to investigate and correct operational issues; make recommendations for improvement or changes in processes and procedures
  • Review, approve, and reconcile employee expense reports
  • Assist with annual review and renewal of corporate insurance policies
  • Review and approve the expenses of the Adviser’s Funds
  • Prepare payroll for Assistant Controller’s review
  • Ad hoc duties and projects as assigned
  • Continually explore new ways to add value to the position and the company


  • 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel, strongly preferred
  • Quickbooks experience preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong client service orientation and ability to work with multiple stakeholders, including all levels of employees, senior management, and external parties
  • Attunement to process improvement; willing to develop successful practices to ensure effectiveness for daily tasks and operational processes
  • Ability to work well independently, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Demonstrate the core values of Eventide in execution of duties
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion in all matters
  • Ability to work within compliance of Eventide’s Code of Ethics
